A collaboration between Off-White's Virgil Abloh and Jacob & Co. has yielded the Flyer Paperclip Necklace, fashioned out of gold in the shape of a paper clip. It is currently available at the Jacob & Co. Madison Avenue flagship in New York City for $3,400 USD.
The necklace is made of 18k gold and its body has been hand-polished. The Flyer Paperclip Necklace can be worn in the form of both a necklace and a bracelet. It bears an engraving of Jacob & Co.'s logo on its clip.
The Flyer Paperclip Necklace is the second piece of jewelry in a collaboration between Abloh and Jacob & Co., following "Double Zero," an oversize chain made of sterling silver, yellow gold, and black rhodium that was unveiled at New York Fashion Week last season.
"The collaboration, which includes the Double Zero chain and a smaller version of the paperclip necklace, came about after Abloh called Jacob & Co. founder Jacob Arabo to ask for his help," according to "Bloomberg".
Jacob & Co.'s strength in making jewelry is one of the reasons why Abloh sought out its help.
The Flyer Paperclip Necklace is Abloh's third jewelry collaboration after working with Matthew Williams on a pair of $325 USD silver teardrop earrings, dubbed the "BFF" earrings, and with Schott on a $240 USD sterling silver pendant necklace charm that is part of his capsule collection for the New York-based label.
