Netflix has greenlit a doc about the life of Kanye West, titled JEEN-YUHS, to premiere at Sundance in January 2022. Directed by Clarence "Coodie" Simmons and Chike Ozah, the documentary will then stream worldwide from Netflix.

The doc follows Yeezy's rise to global stardom. "Shot over 20 years, this documentary trilogy is an intimate and revealing portrait of Kanye West's life journey, from his formative days striving to break through to his present status as a global brand and artist," Netflix tweeted.

The doc comes from a YouTube show by Simmons and Ozah. "I used to film my friends around the country, then I met Kanye West. This is our show," tweeted Simmons of JumpOffTV.

This is not the first time Netflix has explored hip-hop history on film. The streaming service released a doc about Tupac called “RESURRECTION” last year. This year it is releasing a doc about another one of rap’s most influential groups, A Tribe Called Quest.
