The Aerogram collection, as usual, integrates the brand's history of traveling with a contemporary twist. While the leather goods selections in the collection represent craftsmanship and nomadism, its sharp lines and modern design are intended for everyday elegance. It is inspired by aerograms, folded sheets of paper that may be used as letters or stamped envelopes as the name of the collection itself.
Louis Vuitton’s former creative director Virgil Abloh once explained: “This year we wanted to treat the bag as if it was a piece of paper. The monogram pattern is stamped in gold metal and the designer has adopted an origami folding approach for this collection so that each item can be easily packed flat when you travel
Louis Vuitton men’s artistic director Kim Jones reprises Virgil Abloh’s vision of streetwear within Louis Vuitton’s own culture with the Aerogram collection. The Spring/Summer 2019 is a testament as to how the collaboration has led to one of Louis Vuitton’s most popular and successful collections, which was originally designed by Abloh in 2017.
The reissued pieces now come tweaked with colorways such as green and denim blue.
“Over the last few years I have enjoyed collaborating with Virgil Abloh. It has been exciting to work on an existing collection, adding my ideas and creativity to realise it in a fresh way. With this season, I wanted to produce something that paid tribute to our original collaboration while offering something new. I worked closely with the Artistic Team on the design to ensure that it stayed true to our graphic codes,” Jones said. The Louis Vuitton Aerogram collection is available at select stores worldwide and louisvuitton.com. It's price range is USD $580 - $2,590.
