The limited edition shoe will be available for sale at Louis Vuitton stores to benefit the Water Keeper Alliance. The alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the world's waterways.
Louis Vuitton is releasing a one-of-a-kind, made-to-order sneaker later this month in support of clean water initiatives and charities across the globe. The eco-conscious Charlie sneaker is handcrafted from organic canvas and features a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX lining.
"Louis Vuitton has always been committed to providing the best quality products while minimizing our environmental impact," said Chi-Rih Ma, president of LVMH Perfumes and Fashion. "Through this new collaboration with the Water Keeper Alliance, we hope to continue our efforts in supporting clean water initiatives and reduce our carbon footprint across the globe."
Louis Vuitton has long been an advocate for green living. In 2010, Louis Vuitton launched its Green Flowers advertising campaign showcasing a series of creative advertisements photographed by the legendary Annie Leibovitz. Last year, the company donated more than $1 million to Global Green USA, making it the biggest corporate supporter in its history.
The limited edition shoe will be available for sale at Louis Vuitton stores to benefit the Water Keeper Alliance – an international organization co-founded by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr in 1999 to protect waterways worldwide. Proceeds from the sale of each pair of shoes will be donated to the Alliance's international partners, who are working together on water protection efforts in their collective regions.
"I am honored that Waterkeeper organizations are using the proceeds from sales of these unique sneakers for critical clean water projects around the world," said Kennedy Jr., President of the Waterkeeper Alliance." As a passionate environmentalist and longtime Louis Vuitton customer, I am thrilled that the brand is supporting my cause by creating one-of-a-kind canvas shoes."
The limited edition Charlie shoe was made available available for purchase at select Louis Vuitton stores beginning May 29. The shoe comes with a custom Charlie tote bag and special Waterkeeper Alliance pins.
