Lil Nas X has revealed the cover for his forthcoming debut album, Montero, and he's stripping it down to the bare essentials. The artwork — shot by Charlotte Rutherford — depicts him naked and floating in what looks like a heavenly oasis: One field with water, majestic architecture and an unlimited supply of butterflies.

The release date for the album has not yet been announced, but with the release of this stunning artwork, it's sure to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year. In a statement about the album cover, Lil Nas X said:

"With this album I wanted to strip it all down and go back to basics. I feel like this cover represents the simplicity of the album, and how it is just me singing. It's art in its rawest form."

Lil Nas X's debut album Montero looks to be a complete departure from the country-trap sound he has been known for. In his latest single, "Panini," Lil Nas X experiments with a more forward thinking disco funk, and he even reveals that David Bowie was one of his biggest inspirations in creating the project. The album is set to include features from Cardi B, Ty Dolla $ign and Billy Ray Cyrus, so it will be interesting to see how the different sounds come together on the final product.

Lil Nas X has released many tracks throughout 2019 so far, including "Panini" with Yung Bans and AJ Mitchell, "Old Town Road" which went to No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 straight weeks, and "Rodeo" with Cardi B. His debut album is sure to include all of his biggest hits as well as new music that has yet to be released.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Montero, and with an album cover as stunning as this, it is sure to be a hit.
