A life-size, transparent PlayStation controller by artist Dan Arsham has been unveiled. The "Crystal Relic 004" was created in conjunction with Sony PlayStation Japan and is one of only ten such controllers in the world. It will be on display at the artist's forthcoming exhibition in Alhambra, California from January 19th through February 10th.

Daniel Arsham has unveiled the latest edition to his “Crystal Relic” series, this time in the form of life-size PlayStation controller sculpture piece. The transparent design retains the familiar fabric-covered buttons and dual analog sticks which are linked to a central piece containing the directional pad on one side and the standard four buttons on the other.

The follow-up to last year’s “Crystal Relic 003” is designed in collaboration with Sony Playstation Japan who had previously commissioned Arsham for an installation at their flagship store in Tokyo. The controller design is based off the “Crystal Relic 002” which was given as a gift to senior Sony Playstation employees and is one of only ten such controllers in existence.

The “Crystal Relic 004” sculpture piece will be on display at Arsham’s show titled “Exodus From The Future: An Exhibition Of Works By Daniel Arsham” at The Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California from Saturday, January 19th through Sunday, February 10th. A special dedication ceremony will be held on opening night which is open to the public and can be RSVPed.

The artwork was first previewed as part of a cover art reveal by rapper Gunna for his latest album, Drip Season 4. The diamond-filled statue of the artist features an iced-out chain and black, angular sunglasses and was also designed by Arsham. The cover art was first unveiled at the rapper’s listening party alongside an appearance by Future. The “Exodus From The Future: An Exhibition Of Works By Daniel Arsham” will be on display from January 19th through February 10th at The Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California.
