The Troubled Life & Post Death Art Success of Jean-Michel Basquiat

Jean-Michel Basquiat was one of the most influential artists of his generation. His unique style combined elements of graffiti, Pop Art, and African American culture. Unfortunately, Basquiat's life was plagued by addiction and mental health issues, which ultimately led to his untimely death at the age of 27.

After Basquiat's death, his work experienced a surge in popularity and value. His paintings have sold for millions of dollars at auction, making him one of the most successful post-death artists in history.

Basquiat was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1960. He was of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent. As a child, Basquiat was interested in art and poetry, and he began spray painting graffiti around New York City at the age of 14.

Basquiat’s Infamous Party Habits And Girlfriends

Basquiat was known for his wild and extravagant lifestyle. He loved to throw lavish parties, and often invited many famous friends and celebrities. Basquiat's parties were always a blast, but they could also be quite chaotic. He was known for having very messy parties, and often times there would be broken glass and spilled drinks everywhere. Basquiat also had a reputation for being a bit of a ladies' man. He was often seen with different women, and he was known for his many relationships with famous models and actresses. Basquiat's party habits and girlfriends were just as famous as his art.

Alexis Adler

When they lived together in 1978, his girlfriend Alexis Adler was able to witness his creative process up close. She has remarked, "He was just ransacking the flat. He used to paint with his feet because he couldn't find a brush. And he would use his hands and smear the paint all over the walls."

Mariel Hemingway

Basquiat had a brief but intense relationship with actress Mariel Hemingway in 1984. Hemingway has said that Basquiat was "like a force of nature. He burned very brightly, and he burned out very quickly."

In 1985, Basquiat had a brief but passionate affair with Madonna. Madonna has said that Basquiat was "an amazing lover. He was just so wild and free and passionate."

Suzanne Mallouk

Basquiat was also involved with Suzanne Mallouk, a model and actress. The two met in 1987 and had a brief but intense relationship. Mallouk has said that Basquiat was "like a drug. He was just so addictive and so exciting."

Fiona Golfar

In 1984, Vogue's future editor-at-large hosted Basquiat at her house. Her experience was reminiscent of when she entertained him: "I felt slightly nervous," she says. She continues, "He was this wild, untamed animal." "I remember he jumped on the sofa and started painting it with a can of aerosol  blue paint."

Basquiat & Warhol: An Unlikely Friendship In Art History

Basquiat and Warhol were two of the most important and influential artists of their time. They were also good friends.

As two artistic luminaries from different eras, two legendary creative minds of the era, and two excellent friends, Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana were an unlikely match. They would establish one of the most significant artist-artist relationships in history. The wildly experimental Basquiat and Warhol, the founding father of Pop art, emerged from different generations and backgrounds. However, in just six years and a profoundly intimate though tumultuous friendship, the mutual respect and adulation that Basquiat and Warhol had for one another inspired two separately iconic bodies of work that are now eternally emblazoned in the annals of art history.

Basquiat was a young, Neo-Expressionist artist who emerged from the graffiti scene in downtown Manhattan. Warhol, on the other hand, was an established Pop artist and the founder of the movement. When they first met in 1980, Basquiat was a 22-year-old unknown and Warhol was a 56-year-old art world heavyweight. But the two soon bonded over their shared love of making art and their similar senses of humor.

They would go on to collaborate on a number of projects, including paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Warhol helped Basquiat gain wider recognition in the art world, while Basquiat helped Warhol to connect with a younger generation of artists.

Their friendship was not without its ups and downs, however. Basquiat was known to be jealous of Warhol's success, and Warhol was often critical of Basquiat's work. But in the end, their mutual respect and admiration for one another's work was evident.

In 1986, just two years before Warhol's death, the two artists collaborated on a series of paintings that would come to be known as the "Paintings Based on Photographs of Debbie Harry." This series was a departure from Warhol's usual style, and it is widely considered to be one of his finest works. Basquiat and Warhol's friendship was an important and unique artistic collaboration that resulted in some of the most iconic art of the 20th century. Their story is a testament to the power of friendship, and it serves as a reminder that great things can come from unlikely places. offers an exclusive collection of prints and artworks by Basquiat and Warhol. New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Teases Patrick Stewart Back as Professor X

The newest trailer for "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," directed by Sam Raimi from Marvel Studios has been released.

The six-minute video, which premiered during Super Bowl LVI and features Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, being arrested and facing a series of characters in an almost court scenario, is now available to stream on YouTube. After a few seconds of silence, the voice of a male that many have assumed is Patrick Stewart reprising his role as X-Men character Professor X says that Doctor Strange should already be aware of the truth. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch continues to suffer the consequences of her actions in WandaVision, telling Doctor Strange, "You break the rules and become a hero. I do it, and I'm declared the adversary. It doesn't seem right."

The film's director, Sam Raimi, has already confirmed that Professor X would be returning for his sequel and Stewart himself announced at the C2E2 convention in Chicago during April 2018 that he was "discussing another project with them which would be a follow up to" his cameo appearance as the character in "Avengers: Endgame".

Sam Raimi has directed the film, which is the first Marvel Studios production to be directed by someone other than the Russo brothers. The actor will portray Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who becomes one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world after breaking reality on an alternate dimension known as the Multiverse of Madness.

The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rachel McAdams. After the success of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," fans have been expecting the sequel to be released shortly after. The first film grossed over $678 million worldwide and it is believed that "Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness" will do a good business as well, given Cumberbatch's popularity as an actor. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters May 6.

“Imagine Picasso” Debuts in San Francisco

Last year, immersive exhibits were all the rage, with Vincent Van Gogh and the Sistine Chapel among the most sought-after worldwide. That tendency does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon, as a new exhibition dedicated to Pablo Picasso has opened in San Francisco. "Imagine Picasso" is an interactive show that invites visitors to explore the artist's creative process.

The exhibit features a wide range of Picasso's work, from his early sketches to his famous Cubist pieces. It also includes some never-before-seen works, such as a sketch for the 1937 painting "Guernica." In addition to the art itself, the exhibit includes multimedia elements that provide context and insight into Picasso's life and work.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibit at their own pace, and there are several interactive stations where they can try their hand at creating art themselves. "Imagine Picasso" is a fun and informative experience for art lovers of all ages.

"Imagine Picasso," created in collaboration with the Picasso Estate, features more than 200 works by the late Spanish artist in an immersive experience dubbed "the largest collection of Picasso's paintings in one collection ever." Pablo's grandson, Olivier Widmaier Picasso, added, "I think this exhibition would have delighted my grandfather a lot because he was, most of all, a man of individual liberty."

Pablos Picasso is the subject of the experiential exhibition "Imagine Picasso"

Picasso's iconic oil painting Guernica is undoubtedly the most resonant of the works on show. The painting, created in 1937 to represent the horrors of war, is widely regarded as possibly Picasso's most renowned piece, and it is recreated throughout the area, as well as the blood-red hue of the floor. The exhibition debuted in France and Canada before coming to the United States to open at San Francisco's Skylight at The Armory. If you're in the Bay Area, be sure to check out "Imagine Picasso" before it closes in mid-March.

YEAT is the Best Rapper alive

Yeat is on the rise. He's just in his early twenties, but he's already generating attention and receiving significant endorsements from Drake, the Weeknd, Lil Yachty, and others.

Noah Oliver Smith, a Portland rapper, was born on February 26, 2000, and showed an early interest in music. Despite the fact that he has been making music since he was a teenager, Yeat broke into the public in 2021 with the release of songs like "Money Twrk," and "Sorry Bout That," and his star power continued to climb with the release of "Gt Busy," which went viral on TikTok. He was able to secure a joint venture agreement with Field Trip Recordings and Geffen Records as a result of his sustained internet popularity.

Yeat's most recent album, “2 Aliv,” which was released on February 18, 2022, has already received excellent critical praise. The 20-track album premiered at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums list, including guest performances from Young Thug, Gunna, and others. As Yeat's reputation grows, we've compiled a list of things you should know about the emerging rapper.

He managed to come up with his alias while stoned

Everyone has a tale about how they came up with their stage name. That narrative begins with Yeat using marijuana. During an interview with Our Generation Music, he added, "I'm not going to lie, it was truly like some high stuff." "I just wanted to produce something with a single word and keep it basic and approachable." When people hear my name, they automatically assume they've heard of me." He used to be known as Lil Yeat, but he finally dropped the "Lil."

Because of a bell sound, "Gt Busy" went viral on TikTok

A clip of his tune "Get Busy" went viral online in August 2021, gaining him a lot of attention. The song was included on his album Up 2 M, which was released the following month in September. Due to the usage of ringing bells, "Get Busy" subsequently made its way to TikTok, where it became quite popular. Yeat raps about the bell sound in the song. Drake, Druski, and Lil Yachty were among the artists and influences who later referenced it. Yeat has previously said that he enjoys using bells in his compositions.

Since 2016, he's started releasing songs

For the last six years, the 21-year-old rapper has been releasing music. He told Our Generation Music that he's been uploading music to the internet since late 2016 or early 2017. He's released seven albums in the last six years, the most recent of which is 2 Aliv.

He’s Romanian and Mexican

Since his arrival on the scene, there have been many concerns about Yeat's identity. He cleared the air during an interview with Our Generation Music, stating that he is half Romanian and half Mexican. His mother is from Romania, while his father is from Mexico. Despite the fact that Yeat claimed to be half white, he appeared to critique the lyrics of certain white rappers.

He claims that his style isn't easily categorizableYeat, like many other new school musicians, does not believe his music can be placed into a box. He's said that he's influenced by Future and Young Thug, who can adapt to a wide range of sounds. He continues, "I feel like my style isn't really established on one thing." "I'm having a lot of various moods and styles." I feel like listening to a lot of Thug trash gave me the ability to change my voice on various tracks."

Bored Ape #3001 recently sold for an unbelievable sum of ETH and many people are assuming it was none other than Justin Bieber who bought it.

The market price of Bored Ape #3001 was set at 80 ETH ($208,000 USD) before the sale while the floor price was at 140 ETH. While the OpenSea account is jam-packed with a slew of other random NFTs, many believe it to be his since it is called "Justin BieberNFTS" and contains the inBetweeners NFT that Bieber currently uses as his Twitter header. BAYC #3001 has not yet been claimed by Justin Bieber.

The Rare Bits account has yet to disclose any information about the seller. There is no question that this purchase was an investment, but there's no way of knowing if it will pay off in the long run.

There has not been much report on Justin Bieber's most recent purchase, yet it is evident that he has an affinity for collecting rare digital assets. Other NFTs in his possession include the "Fluffy Pony" and an inBetweeners NFT. Others speculate he may even be an early adopter of blockchain technology.

KAWS Releases “FAMILY” Companion Collection

A new KAWS collaboration has received a fresh drop from the brand's new Companion offering, this time around based on familial ties. KAWS' latest Changbai Mountain stop for KAWS: Holiday saw the artist continue themes from his family, such as the snow-like sculpture that looked like a kid Companion sitting on her guardian's lap. With the newest update, the theme appears to continue.

The "KAWS FAMILY" line features two versions of the KAWS BFF Companion, including a Chum holding a newborn-sized Chum Michelin Man and a Chum holding a tiny baby. KAWS unveiled the news on Instagram, debuting a Companion in the original gray design and the Chum Michelin Man and BFF in neon pink. The “KAWS FAMILY” is the name of the group, which is represented by various sizes and characters.

The name "KAWS" was first used by the artist in his solo exhibition at L.A.'s Deitch Projects, which he held in 2012. In a recent post on Instagram, KAWS announced that the Chum would be introduced as an additional model for 2019. He revealed the news with a classic gray Companion and the Chum Michelin Man, which is also releasing alongside the multi-sized "KAWS FAMILY".

The KAWS COMPANION has been a staple in his recent works, most recently "50 Cents" at Yuz Museum. The sculpted figure has been the artist's signature character since its grisaille unveiling at Art Basel Miami in 1999.

The work of KAWS is distinguished from pop art by a sense of elusiveness and a subtlety that transcends the limits of a simple image, blurring the boundaries between production and consumption. He has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at Punta della Dogana, Palazzo Grassi, ICA Boston, Whitney Museum of American Art, New Museum, Brooklyn Museum and Guggenheim Bilbao to name a few. It's certainly not the first time that the artist has taken on a different take of his BFF. Last year, it released in a bevy of new renditions via his World tour, including one featuring an Astronaut dog populating the moon. The "KAWS FAMILY" is set to be made available at KAWS shops worldwide and online, while the price remains unknown.

All Astroworld Lawsuits Are Now Rolling Into One Case

The victims and organizers of the deadly Travis Scott Astroworld event have come together to consolidate their claims into one large case three months later.

In the interest of expediency, a Texas court panel has agreed to examine each of the 387 individual complaints — which total over 2,800 alleged victims — as one large case. The lawsuit seeks to hold Travis Scott and Live Nation accountable for negligence in planning and developing Astroworld, including a lack of crowd management, emergency procedures, and insufficient care. The plaintiffs are seeking billions of dollars in compensation.

In some situations, however, billable hours are difficult to determine. For example, if a single attorney handles several cases for a major firm in one year and those cases cannot be assigned to separate lawyers because of legal requirements or ethical restrictions on how the attorney may represent multiple clients in different matters at once (commonly known as conflict of interest), an easier way to negotiate with all parties involved. It doesn't eliminate the prospect of a few individual cases becoming a benchmark for judges to evaluate how to settle similar claims in the event that the class action lawsuit fails.

Travis Scott has previously asked the courts to toss out the numerous lawsuits filed against him over Astroworld, submitting a "general denial of liability" in response to the several civil claims that are now pending. Scoot offered a full refund to everyone who went to the ill-fated music event, as well as funeral expenses for those who perished, but many of the victim's families have already rejected the offer. We are currently two weeks away from the first quarter of the year. Even if Travis Scott and Live Nation have a case, the damage has been done. While this is not going to happen overnight, it's definitely going to happen eventually.

Pokémon and Daniel Arsham Put Together “A Ripple In Time” Short Film

The “A Ripple in Time” art exhibition, which features works by Pokémon and Daniel Arsham, is currently on display at several galleries throughout Japan.

In conjunction with the physical displays, the pair has released a unique short film following an initial teaser launched in July. The movie opens with a bustling metropolis, where people and Pokémon live together side by side. Arsham and his Pokémon Cubone are seen battling Ash and Pikachu before Pikachu's thunderbolts strike Celebi, transporting Ash and Pikachu to a desolate future dimension where the city is overgrown with vegetation.

Arsham's crystal erosion Pokémon sculptures can be found throughout the city, each depicting a different species. Charizard, Mew-Two, and Blastoise sculptures appear overhead as Celebi takes them into a mysterious cavern. They then enter an abandoned laboratory, where Arsham's Pokémon Cubone and Meowth sculptures appear.

Cubone is shown dueling Ash and Pikachu with its bone-wielding powers while some of Arsham's human figures stand in the background. Pikachu's thunderbolt eventually strikes Celebi, transporting our heroes to another dimension. The city is then shown as a desolate wasteland, with Arsham's crystal erosion Pokémon sculptures towering over the grown vegetation.

The short film closes by panning to the four Poké Ball sculptures, which contain original drawings by Pokémon and Arsham. We meet a human figure wearing a Cubone bone mask and holding a Pokéball before he is transported back to an alternate dimension where his own world lies in ruin. The video comes full circle as we return to the city and see the human figure running alongside the Cubone sculpture.

Take a look at the video above to learn how the tale ends. The saga will be continued, suggesting the likelihood of additional episodes. The Daniel Arsham x Pokémon "A Ripple in Time" exhibitions are now showing, featuring eroded stone Pokémon sculptures, live interactions, paintings, drawings, and other media.
