As part of this fashion campaign, Saint Laurent will also be partnering with Pacino's nonprofit organization Cinema for Peace to raise awareness about the need to fight HIV/AIDS.
We've seen a lot of this type of casting recently, where actors are hired to front fashion campaigns well after their prime years in Hollywood. Sticking to the theme of Saint Laurent, who recently hired a pregnant Gucci muse for his campaign , this is a fitting move from the Kering house to hire an iconic actor like Al Pacino.
In other news, it looks like Saint Laurent has also tapped behind-the-scenes talent from one of their sister brands as well by hiring Anthony Vaccarello as the brand's creative director. We had a chance to catch up with Vaccarello, and he mentioned how he was excited about his new role at the Parisian house.
"I think what I'm most excited about is the DNA of Saint Laurent will always be there, but with my direction there's obviously going to be something new," he told Fashionista in an interview .
The campaign imagery for Pacino is released in Saint Laurent's typical black-and-white style, and directed by Anthony Vacarrello himself. It was filmed by David Sims and features a video directed by David Sims.
Vacarrello took over the role as creative director at Saint Laurent in April 2017, succeeding Hedi Slimane after his four-year stint at the house who successfully repositioned the brand.
Al Pacino is 81-years-old, and will definitely bring some Hollywood glam to the Saint Laurent show next season.Al Pacino has been known for his exceptional acting artistry, and we're definitely looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the runway. And with Vaccarello at the helm of creative direction at Saint Laurent, this collaboration between Pacino and the brand is very fitting.
